MP Sanjeev Arora reviews progress of upgradation works at Ludhiana Civil Hospital

Ludhiana: MP Sanjeev Arora (Rajya Sabha) chaired a meeting with officials from various departments, including Health, Punjab Health System Corporation, PWD, and contractors, on Monday evening to assess the progress of the ongoing renovation and upgradation work at Civil Hospital, Ludhiana.

Present at the meeting were Civil Surgeon Dr. Pardeep Kumar, Senior Medical Officer Dr. Harpreet Singh, PWD Executive Engineer Kamaljit Singh, Izu Kalra from Kabir Infra, Mohit Kanwar from Crescentia project management, and an official from the Punjab Health System Corporation.

MP Arora received updates on completed works as well as ongoing tasks. The upgrade is being funded through CSR and MPLAD initiatives, aimed at transforming the hospital into a facility with standards comparable to any better private hospital.

Key pending tasks include roof waterproofing, fire safety measures, horticulture improvements, painting, replacing ceiling fans & enhanced lighting, relaying & widening internal roads, laying of pavers in parking areas, shed for waiting patients and their guardians.

Completed works include new sewer lines, rodent control measures, strengthening of boundary walls, tile work, bathroom repairs, garbage dump removal, and working of two elevators.

Arora urged officials to expedite all tasks to ensure completion by January next year. He emphasized the need for improved lighting and called for immediate action on pending tasks, including issuing tenders if necessary. The potential to utilize vacant land within the hospital for additional parking was also discussed.

Responding to requests from Health Department officials, Arora assured to provide 50 heaters. On Arora's request Rajinder Gupta, Emeritus Chairman, Trident Group, promised to give 500 bedsheets for indoor patients. Arora also committed to securing additional medical equipment for the hospital, based on a provided list.

Additional furniture requirements were also discussed and assured of early supply.
