SAS Nagar: Senior Superintendent of Police Deepak Pareek suggested three months of crash data analysis in the district to take further measures for improving road safety. Taking part in the District Road Safety Committee Meeting, SSP Pareek said that as per the data put here showing some reduction in accidents, injuries and casualties based on the last three months, we should go for a thorough analysis further to ensure more road safety for the commuters.
As per data produced in the meeting, it was reported a reduction of 4.5 per cent in accidents, 11.5 per cent in fatalities and 30 per cent in injuries. To overcome the issue of having to read light signals as per the need of a particular area on particular days or to provide an alternative to the non-functional lights, he put a proposal for the use of mobile portable red light signal poles, initially on a testing basis.
Furthermore, the SSP further said that the District Police would opt for traffic martials to depute them on busy junctions in Mohali. He said that the rise in vehicular movements on busy roads and junctions of Mohali caused chaos thereby hindering in flow of smooth traffic.
