Amritsar: Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, on Wednesday, campaigned for the AAP candidates for the upcoming Municipal Corporation elections in Amritsar. Addressing a massive gathering on the historic streets of Amritsar, the CM expressed gratitude to the people for their enthusiastic support and assured them of AAP's commitment to transforming the city into a world-class destination.

CM Mann highlighted the unique historical and cultural significance of Amritsar, calling it the “land of martyrs” and a place visited by millions annually to see landmarks like Sri Harmandir Sahib, Durgiana Mandir, Jallianwala Bagh, and Wagah Border. He outlined AAP's vision to enhance Amritsar’s infrastructure, economy, and tourism potential.

The Chief Minister outlined a comprehensive plan for Amritsar's development, focusing on key areas such as electric buses, market upgrades, underground cabling, wastewater management, and economic growth. Mann emphasized the introduction of eco-friendly electric buses with modern charging stations to curb pollution and enhance public transport. He also highlighted plans to revamp old markets and decongest narrow streets to restore their appeal, beautify the city by replacing overhead wires with underground cabling, and clean the polluted drains along the Amritsar-Wagah road to improve sanitation and environmental health. Additionally, he stressed the importance of promoting tourism to encourage longer visitor stays, which would boost the local economy through increased spending on shopping, hospitality, and other businesses.

CM Bhagwant Mann urged residents to vote for AAP candidates in the municipal elections, emphasizing that local governance directly impacts the quality of life in the city. He assured that AAP’s candidates are well-known to the people and are committed to solving local issues. “With an AAP-led municipal corporation, we can ensure swift resolution of Amritsar’s problems,” he said.

Highlighting the success of the state government, CM Mann mentioned the unprecedented recruitment of 50,000 youth into government jobs purely on merit without corruption or favoritism. He stressed on the need to extend this honest and efficient governance to the municipal level.

Mann took a swipe at the opposition parties, accusing them of infighting and neglecting the people’s needs. He urged voters to reject the divisive politics of the past and place their faith in AAP’s vision of clean governance and progressive policies.

“The broom is not just a button on the voting machine; it is a symbol of hope, change, and the better future of your children,” CM Mann said, urging citizens to vote for the AAP symbol on December 21.

The road show was attended by AAP Punjab President Aman Arora, Working President Sharry Kalsi, Ministers Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal, Laljit Bhullar and Gurmeet Singh Khuddian, AAP MLAs and other senior leaders. CM Mann thanked the party’s hardworking volunteers and the people of Amritsar for their overwhelming love and support.

He concluded his address by reiterating AAP’s mission to bring development and prosperity to Amritsar and Punjab as a whole. “AAP does not just govern; it rules hearts,” Mann remarked, confident of a resounding victory in the elections.
