New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party MP Sambit Patra on Friday questioned what the Mamata Banerjee's government was trying to hide by allegedly instructing the District Collector to give money to the victim of the father in the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital rape case.

In a news conference on Friday, Patra said, "A person offers money when he is corrupt and tries to hide something. What was there that had to be hidden by the government of Mamata Banerjee, and that money was offered to the victim's father? We want the answers to the questions raised by the victim's father."

Further, Patra said that the questions raised by the victim's father are of utmost importance and lay the foundation of the investigation. "The questions that the victim's father has laid in front of the nation today are of paramount importance. On the foundation of these questions, is based the investigation and the outcome of the investigation," he added.

"The first question was that the victim's father said that when the body of the victim was in their house, the District Collector offered him money. He refused him the offer. Can you think what would be the mental state of the father after the brutal murder of his daughter?" Patra questioned.

He further questioned why the family of the victim was kept waiting outside the seminar hall for three hours. He questioned "The second question is that on August 10, the family of the victim was aware that their daughter was murdered. They were informed of the incident at 11 a.m. and were told that the daughter had committed suicide. The family was kept waiting outside the seminar hall for three hours. The father was asked to go to the principal's office. What was the authority and the police trying to do, thereby keeping them waiting.?"

Additionally, he also questioned why, despite being educated, the victim's family was asked to sign a blank paper by the police. "The most important thing is that the family was asked to sign on a blank paper by the police and the authorities. Why were they asked to do so?" Patra questioned.

Earlier, on Thursday, in the latest development on the rape and murder case the family of the victim. accused the Kolkata Police of trying to offer them money when they were crying and sitting with the mortal remains of their daughter inside the house.

"When the body of the daughter was lying in front of the parents in the house, the police were offering money, is this the humanity of the police?" said the aunt of the deceased doctor.
These allegations came while addressing media persons after the family of the deceased doctor joined protests at the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital on Wednesday night.
