Dr. Ashutosh Lal, MD, Professor of Hematologist at University of California San Francisco UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland (USA) and Director of Clinical Hematology & Comprehensive Thalassemia Center was on personal visit to Chandigarh but visited PGIMER Thalassaemia Ward of Thalassaemic Charitable Trust (TCT) on personal request of Sh. Rajinder Kalra, Member Secretary.
He shared very important aspects of role of Inj. Luspatercept to increase gap between subsequent transfusions and its high cost. Dr Ashutosh Lal expressed hope that Genes Therapy to treat thalassemia will be available in PGIMER, Chandigarh by next 5 years. He also took a round of Blood Transfusion Ward and blessed thalassaemic patients.

Thalassaemic Charitable Trust and Deptt. of Transfusion Medicine PGIMER jointly organizing its 311th Blood Donation Camp at Blood Donation Complex, Room No. 107, PGIMER Chandigarh to celebrate International Women’s Day on 8th March 2025 (Saturday). TCT appeals to all social organizations, voluntary blood donors and other religious/social communities to kindly donate blood for this noble cause for thalassaemic patients whose life line is blood and other needy/serious patients requiring blood support.
