"Swachh Bharat, Swachh Soch: A Step Towards a Cleaner Future"

CHANDIGARH: St. Joseph Senior Secondary School, Sector 44D, Chandigarh, has always been at the forefront of taking unique initiatives that promote environmental consciousness and sustainability. Whether through creative exhibitions or impactful performances, the school continuously inspires its students and the community to contribute to a cleaner and greener world. Their participation in the Swachhata Seva Campaign 2024 stands as another proud example of their commitment to the Swachh Bharat mission.

 

During the campaign, held at Rani Lakshmi Bai Mahila Bhawan, Sector 38, Chandigarh, St. Joseph’s was honoured with the prestigious Swachh School award by the Governor of Chandigarh. This accolade recognized the school’s remarkable efforts in maintaining hygiene and cleanliness both within and outside the school premises.

 

One of the highlights of the event was the school’s innovative exhibition at the Rose Garden underpass. This exhibit showcased a series of educational toys and games made from waste materials, turning trash into treasure, and the outcome of various initiatives like Gamification of education, Maths Mela, Science Mela under Principal Ms. Monica Chawla’s mentorship. The creativity and environmental awareness reflected in these exhibits were widely appreciated and stood out for their unique approach to promoting sustainability.

 

Additionally, the school's theatrical group under the guidance of Ms. Anita Gareja, St. Joseph Street Rockers, captivated the audience with a vibrant Nukkad Natak focused on cleanliness and the role of community in maintaining hygiene. The performance, brimming with energy and purpose, left the audience deeply moved and earned widespread praise for its compelling message.

 

Sharing their thoughts on the occasion, management members Mr. Sukhdeep Grewal and Mr. Paramdeep Grewal said,"We have always believed that education is the key to fostering change, and our students continue to lead by example. This award not only highlights their creativity and responsibility but also serves as a reminder that cleanliness begins with each of us. Through such initiatives, we aim to instill in our students the mindset that sustainable living is the way forward."
