SAS Nagar :Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain and Senior Superintendent of Police, Deepak Pareek visited Saneta Mandi today to ensure smooth procurement of paddy in the district mandis. SDM Mohali Damandeep Kaur and DSP City-2 Mohali Harsimran Singh Bal were also present during the visit.
The Deputy Commissioner and SSP interacted with the farmers and commission agents and assured them that as per the commitment expressed by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, no farmer or commission agent would be allowed to face any difficulty.
The Deputy Commissioner informed that about 1,22,197 MT of paddy has been procured in the grain markets of the district till yesterday evening, which contributes to 57 percent of the total expected arrival of 2.14 lakh metric tonnes.
She said that as the procurement was progressing in the mandis of the district, lifting has also started and so far 26250 metric tonnes of paddy has been lifted from the mandis.
She said that the lifting is being expedited by taking the rice millers into confidence and we hope that in the next few days, all the rice millers of the district will expedite the lifting from the allotted mandis.
She further informed that according to the figures of the procurement agencies, Pangrain has procured 41808 MT, Markfed 32532 MT, Punsup 26447 MT, Punjab State Warehousing Corporation MT, Food Corporation of India 10172 MT of paddy whereas private traders have procured only 661 metric tonnes of paddy from the mandis of the district.
She added that a payment of more than Rs 252 crore has been made against the paddy purchased in the district.SSP Deepak Pareek said that the district police is committed to maintaining law and order in the mandis and no one will be allowed to face any trouble.
