RBI celebrates 90th anniversary with nationwide RBI90 quiz

Chandigarh: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) hosted the Zonal Round of the RBI90 Quiz at Hotel The Lalit, Chandigarh, as part of the ongoing celebrations commemorating 90 years of its establishment. This event witnessed enthusiastic participation from undergraduate students across colleges in the states of Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, New Delhi, Haryana/ UT Chandigarh, Punjab and UT Jammu & Kashmir, showcasing their general knowledge and that also of banking, finance, and the rich history of India’s central bank, among other things.


The RBI90 Quiz was designed to engage and educate young minds about India’s financial ecosystem and aligns with the RBI’s commitment to spreading financial literacy and fostering greater awareness about its role in the economy.


The highlight of the event was the vibrant interaction between the participants and the quizmaster, making the competition both educational and entertaining. The audience, including students, teachers, and dignitaries, actively engaged in on-the-spot quizzes and enjoyed the electrifying atmosphere.


The winning team from IIT, Roorkee, comprising Tanay Kapadia and Vedant Dwivedi, has secured its place in the National Round of the RBI90 Quiz, to be held on December 6, 2024, in Mumbai, where they will compete against the brightest minds from across the country. The team was followed by Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies, New Delhi and Lovely Professional University, Kapurthala, Punjab, which secured the second and third places, respectively. The top three teams will receive prizes of ₹5 lakh, ₹4 lakh, and ₹3 lakh, respectively.


Speaking on the occasion, Sh. Neeraj Nigam, Executive Director, RBI said: "The RBI90 Quiz is a celebration of the Reserve Bank's journey and its commitment to empowering the youth with financial knowledge. Such initiatives play a vital role in fostering curiosity and understanding of the financial sector among students, shaping future leaders of the nation."
