MP Congress stages protest against state govt over several issues, including inflation, unemployment

Bhopal : Madhya Pradesh Congress staged a massive protest against the state Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government over unemployment, inflation, corruption and other issues in Bhopal on Friday.


Congress workers along with state Congress chief Jitu Patwari, Leader of Opposition Umang Singhar, Youth Congress national president Srinivas BV, state youth Congress president Mitendra Singh and other senior leaders moved ahead from Rangmahal crossing to gheraoed the CM house but they were stopped at Roshanpura crossing.


Meanwhile, the party workers were trying to cross the barricade following which, the police used water cannons and tear gas to disperse the crowd. Congress chief Patwari told ANI, "Today, we are protesting against the state BJP government that they should fulfil their promises made in their promissory note during state assembly elections. The state government should prevent atrocities against Dalit, provide employment to Youth and provide proper MSP (Minimum Support Price) to farmers, otherwise, 'Hum It Se It Baja Denge Sarkar Ki' we will destroy the government."


"We will protest in every district in the state, where and how much police will be deployed. We will keep fighting for the rights of the public," he added. Meanwhile, on police action to disperse the workers, Congress MLA Vikrant Bhuria told news agency "The state government is committing barbarity like we are terrorists. We are here to raise the voice of the public. The way, police used water cannons, tear gas, and lathi charged on us, we are not going to keep quiet."


"We came to talk about employment, the state government is not providing employment, nursing scams occurred here but no action was taken? What type of government is functioning in the state? Today, no individual from the dalit community is safe in the state and we gathered here to raise voice for the same," he added.


Additional Commissioner of Police (Add. CP) Awadhesh Goswami told ANI, "Congress workers had permission to protest only from Rangmahal to Roshanpura crossing. As they were trying to cross the barricade at Roshanpura crossing, we stopped them and when they didn't listen to us, the police used water cannons and tear gas to disperse them." The police have also detained a few Congress workers as they were creating nuisance and the situation is under control, he added.
