Inaugural session of International Conf on Saraswati river held at KU

Kurukshetra: In the inaugural session of the 3-day international conference on 'Saraswati River (ICSR)- The Cradle of Sanatan Civilization and Culture - Vision and Horizon for Viksit Bharat 2047' organized under the joint aegis of Kurukshetra University's Saraswati Research Excellence Center and Haryana Saraswati Heritage Development Board, Panchkula, the Chief Guest, OSD to CM, Sh Bharat Bhushan Bharti said that the Akhil Bharatiya Itihas Sankalan Yojana (ABISY), was among the earliest voices to claim about the existence of saraswati river. Bharti further remembered the remarkable contribution of Moropant Pingle, Dr Vishnu Shridhar Wakankar in raising awareness about the existence of saraswati river and further Bharti commended the immense work done by Haryana Saraswati Heritage Development Board (HSHDB).


Guest of Honour, Deputy Chairman, HSHDB said highlighted the achievements of the board like completion of 400 kms river stretch at Aadi Badri, connection of rivers and management of waste alongwith creating reservoirs and controlling floods. Vice Chancellor, Kurukshetra University, Prof Som Nath Sachdeva said that saraswati river is the witness of Vedas and Scriptures being composed. Prof Sachdeva quoted 11th century Al-Biruni's "Kitab al-Hind" which has the mention of saraswati river and further mentioned the existence of Triveni Sangam in Somnath temple, Gujrat consisting of Kapila, Hiran and Saraswati river.


Guest of Honour, Vice Chairman, Haryana Higher Education Council, Panchkula, Prof S.K. Gakhar emphasized the control of carbon emissions to save the life of rivers. Prof. K.S. Dhiman, Vice Chancellor, Shri Krishna Ayush University, Kurukshetra underscored the spiritual significance of saraswati river. CEO, HSHDB, Kumar Supravin informed about the functioning of the board. Conference Director, ICSR-2025 and Director, Centre of Excellence for Research on the Saraswati River, Prof A.R. Chaudri elucidated on the theme of the conference and gave a detailed outline of the achievements and future projects of the KUK centre on Saraswati river.

 

Deputy Director Public Relations Department Dr Jimmy Sharma informed that ICSR volume 2025 published by the Haryana Saraswati Heritage Development Board was released by the dignitaries in the inaugural session. Dr Sharma further informed that the inaugural session was followed by plenary session and technical session. Sh Arvind Kaushik, Convener ICSR presented vote of thanks and Dr Deepa Nathalia, Organizing Secretary ICSR moderated the inaugural session. On this occasion, Kurukshetra DC, IAS, Neha Singh graced the occasion and the officials from the Haryana Saraswati Heritage Development Board and Kurukshetra University were present.
