November 26, 2024 04:40 PM

New Delhi : Samajwadi Party (SP) MP Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday opposed the celebrations of the 75th Constitution Day and questioned on how one could celebrate the day considering the kind of work the government did which had taken lives in Sambhal.

Speaking to the media, Yadav said "I want to congratulate you for the Constitution Day. True celebration is only when you follow the path of the Constitution. How can celebrations be held in the shadow of grief? Celebrating at a time when the kind of work the government has done in Sambhal when it has taken lives and justice is not being served..

False cases are being filed against the MP there, the MLA and his son.. Further, Yadav questioned on why was there a need to do the survey again when it had already been done before.

"When the survey had already been done, why to do it again? If the survey had to be done again, they could have sat together and discussed. The remaining points could have been re-surveyed after discussion.

We were not against the survey but was any action taken against the people whowere shouting slogans behind the team during the survey? Were there any BJP workers with the survey team who were instigating the people? Were they arrested? Will they be sent to jail? No one can go there.. LoPs of both the houses want to visit Sambhal but they are not allowed to go..," the SP MP said.

Meanwhile, amid the ongoing tensions in Sambhal, a 12-member delegation from SP is scheduled to visit the affected area on Tuesday. LoP Uttar Pradesh Assembly and Samajwadi Party leader, Mata Prasad Pandey said that they will go there to see the "atrocities caused by the Police."

Earlier today, the market in Uttar Pradesh's Sambhal opened after violence following the stone pelting incident which took place when a team arrived to survey Shahi Jama Masjid on November 24.
