Haryana CM Saini launches state-level plantation campaign from Kaithal

Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said that the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign was initiated by Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi during the monsoon season to combat air pollution.

Giving a boost to the campaign, Haryana successfully planted 51 lakh saplings on August 16, 2024, under the State-Level plantation campaign.

The Chief Minister was addressing as the Chief Guest in ‘EK Ped Maa Ke Naam’ program organised in Kaithal today. He said that the monsoon season is a flourishing season for flora to grow.

He urged people to not only plant saplings but also to nurture them as well. During the ‘Van Mahotsav’ 20,000 saplings were planted simultaneously in Karnal. The state has set a target of planting 1 crore 60 lakh saplings across Haryana.

He said that during the COVID-19 pandemic, when there was a shortage of oxygen, the initiative to create "Oxyvans," was started. An Oxyvan has been established in Karnal as part of this effort.

Highlighting the importance of flora and fauna in one’s life Chief Minister said that plants are the foundation of life and also appealed to the citizens to participate actively in the campaign and plant saplings nearby places and should honour mother nature.

Minister of State for Environment, Forest & Wild life, Sanjay Singh expressing his happiness said he is glad that the State level plantation campaign has started from Kaithal, 51 lakh saplings will be planted under this campaign across the state simultaneously. He also said that it is a great initiative by the Prime Minister showcasing respect to mother nature.

Highlighting the Chief Minister’s diligence for the people of the state he said that The Chief Minister is available to the public 24/7, addressing their issues.

He also stated that Haryana's sports policy has resulted in our athletes winning medals at National and International Level. Former Minister and MLA Smt. Kamlesh Dhanda and MLA, Kaithal, Sh. Leela Ram also addressed the function.

Hafed Chairman, Sh. Kailash Bhagat and district administration officers also remained present.
