Chandigarh: IAS officer Anindita Mitra was relieved from the post of Chandigarh Municipal Corporation (MC) Commissioner on Thursday after completing her three-year tenure.
On this occasion, the corporation officials honoured her by giving a bouquet. Mitra was remained on the post for the entire three years in the Municipal Corporation. She was successful in implementing many big projects in the corporation. The Chandigarh administration had also sought an extension of one year from the Punjab government but there was no response from the Punjab government on this yet. After that, the Chandigarh administration had sought a three-month extension for Anandita Mitra from the Union Home Ministry, which was not approved by the Central Government. On not getting an extension from the Union Home Ministry, the commissioner left her post on Thursday.
Anindita Mitra is a 2007 batch IAS officer of Punjab cadre. She was sent on deputation from Punjab cadre to AGMUT cadre for three years. Mitra joined the post of Chandigarh Municipal Corporation Commissioner on 23 August 2021. She was earlier the Director of Public Relations in Punjab.
